Cardiac Anatomy Review

 

Cardiac emergencies are one of the most common patient encounters EMS providers face.  Having a fundamental grasp on cardiac anatomy and physiology and the ability to relate this knowledge to a patient is essential for EMS providers.

Course Details

Overview

This class will review cardiac anatomy and physiology and how it relates in the clinical environment. In addition, students will participate in a heart dissection lab.

  • External cardiac anatomy

  • Coronary anatomy

  • Cardiac muscular structure and function

  • Electrophysiology

  • Valves and their function

  • Aortic anatomy

  • Heart dissection lab

Heart Dissection Lab

Each student will participate in a pig heart dissection lab with one heart available per student (no sharing). All dissecting supplies will be available.
